Saudi Power Procurement Company Unveils Qualified Developers for 4.5 GW Renewable Projects

Riyadh: The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC) has revealed the list of qualified developers for 4.5 GW of renewable energy projects under the sixth round of the National Renewable Energy Programme (NREP). The competition, launched at the end of September, encompasses several high-profile solar and wind projects, including the 1.4 GW Najran solar PV, 600-MW Samtah solar PV, 600-MW Ad Darb solar PV, 400-MW As Sufun solar PV, and the 1.5-GW Dawadmi wind project.
Qualified Bidders for Solar Projects.A range of top-tier energy companies have made it through to the next stage of the bidding process for the solar projects. The qualified developers include: A consortium of Masdar and JERA NEX Ltd. An alliance of Alfanar and PowerChina.A partnership of EDF Renouvelables and China Power Engineering Consulting Group International Engineering Co Engie’s Kahrabel FZE in collaboration with POSCO and FAS Energy, in partnership with Saudi Electricity Company. Other qualified developers include Jinko Power, KEPCO, Marubeni Corp, Nesma Renewable Energy, SPIC Huanghe Hydropower Development Co, Sumitomo Corp, Totalenergies Renewables, Al Jomaih Energy & Water Co, Sembcorp Utilities, Al Gihaz Holding Company, and Korea Western Power Co. Qualified Bidders for Wind Projects
The wind project also attracted several strong contenders. The qualified bidders include: A consortium of Masdar, Al Jomaih Energy & Water Co., and Nesma Renewable Energy.EDF Renouvelables S.A. in partnership with Jinko Power. Kahrabel FZE together with Saudi Electricity Company. Marubeni Corp with China Power Engineering Consulting Group International Engineering Co. An alliance of Sembcorp Utilities Pte Ltd and POSCO.A consortium of Sumitomo Corp and KEPCO Totalenergies Renewables together with Nareva Holding Goldwind Science & Technology Co with JERA NEX. Standalone bidders for the wind project include POWERCHINA, Alfanar Company, and SPIC Huanghe Hydropower Development Co.
